Very excited to publish this protocol for the innovative study we are doing in Moshi, Tanzania. This team is led by Dr. Staton at Duke University and represents a collaboration with an interdisciplinary team in the U.S and at the Kilimanjaro Clinical Research Institute. The project is a culturally adapted, nurse-delivered brief negotiational intervention to reduce alcohol-related harms and alcohol consumption among injury patients seen in the emergency department at the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre. We hope that the information from the actual trial, currently underway, will transform behavior change research and also help to guide the most effective nurse led interventions that can be integrated into standard care in low-resource settings.
